I have many years of experience as a teacher of A level Psychology, most recently as the Head of Department at an independent school in Cambridge. Alongside classroom teaching, I have also gained a lot of experience as a private tutor in the subject, both in person and on-line. With some years as an examiner for AQA, I have an awareness of the examination requirements. My strength is in understanding students' challenges and helping them to understand difficult concepts.

I retired from teaching in 2024, and continue to be actively interested in education and in my subject. I am married for over 50 years with two daughters and two granddaughters. Besides spending time with my family, I enjoy supporting my football team, where I have been a season ticket holder for a quarter of a century, and fostering guide dogs in training.
Academically I have become very interested in adolescent sleep, and sometimes visit schools to help students understand how sleep works and make more informed decisions about managing their own sleep.
I have been a teacher for 35 years at a range of institutions including three schools in Cambridgeshire. Most recently I retired from the post of Head of Department in Psychology at an independent school where I also served as Head of Social Sciences.
As a tutor I have helped many students with their preparation for A level Psychology, sometimes in person and sometimes online.
I am a chartered Psychologist and member of the British Psychological Society, and an individual member of the Tutor's Association. I am committed to the code of practice of both organisations.
My specialisms for my degree in Psychology were in Cognitive Psychology and Research Methodology. More recently I have been undertaking independent research into adolescent sleep.
During my career I have taught the entire AQA specification including most of the options. I have also tutored students sitting other A level examination boards.
