I have been working as a full-time professional tutor based in Central London for the past year, after having been consistently tutoring for two years whilst completing my Master’s degree at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). My tutoring has varied enormously from successfully assisting numerous students with their IGCSE and A-level Business Studies and Economics exams, through to home-schooling 5-10 year olds in preparation for their pre-tests. My approach is interactive, flexible and tailored specifically to the student’s needs, as each student is unique and highly capable. I believe in providing the support the student needs to build confidence and to thrive whilst simultaneously encouraging independent learning to give them life-long self-education skills.
My highly-diverse and international professional, scholastic and personal experiences make me an ideal candidate for this role. As a Global MiM student at LSE, I have honed my analytical, quantitative and interpersonal competencies. This was best exemplified when I topped my 81-person cohort in the US MBA Exchange process and through ranking in the top 5% in ‘Foundations in Management I.’ Moreover, being selected to lead the 4-person team responsible for advising ‘Rare Disease Nurse Network’ (a UK-based charity) as part of the LSE’s flagship ‘Capstone Project’ enhanced my teamwork, communication and leadership skills. Through internships at UBP (Dubai and Geneva), I demonstrated my critical-thinking mastery whilst conducting financial and commercial due diligence to assess the feasibility of various investment opportunities. I worked closely with key stakeholders from Europe, Asia and the Middle-East where I learnt the importance of embracing diversity and versatility.
I have provided tuition in Business Studies, Economics, English and Mathematics to students ranging from ages 7 to 46, at a variety of educational levels, including KS2, KS3, School Entrance Exams (11+), GCSEs and A-Levels. Having studied and worked across 5 countries - Dubai, Hong Kong, Portugal, Switzerland and the UK - I am passionate about tutoring students from a variety of backgrounds to help them set and achieve their goals. My approach is interactive, flexible and tailored specifically to the student’s needs, as each student is unique and highly capable. One of my greatest strengths is the ability to explain complex concepts in simpler, more-accessible terms personalised for the student’s optimal methods of learning. I believe in providing the support the student needs to build confidence and to thrive whilst simultaneously encouraging independent learning to give them life-long self-education skills.
SELECTED CASE STUDY EXAMPLES
* IGCSE - I have been tutoring a bright young student in both IGCSE Business and Economics by creating a strategic plan that ensured we built a solid foundation of the core concepts included in the Cambridge IGCSE syllabus. Additionally, I utilised past paper questions frequently to cement his understanding and application of the theory to optimise coursework and examination preparation. The student now consistently achieves A+ grades in weekly assignments, his schoolteacher’s feedback confirms a vast improvement in his written work and verbal participation, stating the student can now expect to achieve top grades in both subjects.
* A-Level - An Economics student I tutored was struggling to grasp basic concepts at the start of the academic year, for example, the law of diminishing returns. By providing real world examples, easy-to-understand analogies and also incorporating the interests of the student, facilitated a depth of understanding of the basic topics. I then built on these by introducing more complex topics which he could take in his stride thanks to his increased confidence and motivation. The student successfully achieved A* grades (90% +) on all assessments and now wishes to pursue a Bachelor’s in Economics.
Primary Years - Maths & English
* I have been tutoring multiple students aged 5-10 years mathematics and english, the approach taken involves interactive and fun sessions supporting the children's curiosity and enjoyment of the subject. I enjoy providing the support necessary for the students to build confidence and thrive whilst encouraging independent learning through weekly homework exercises.
* Business Studies - IGCSE/GCSE, A-Level and IB
* Economics - IGCSE/GCSE, A-Level and IB
