About Me
Hi, I'm Jack! I'm a researcher and lecturer, trying to figure out the ways Alzheimer's disease starts to propagate in the brain. I teach an awful lot of different topics, from GCSE to university, so you can come to me for anything biological! Last year I was awarded my PhD, but found that I'm most passionate about teaching, so please don't hesitate to get in touch and I'm sure we can work our way through what can be a really complicated subject together.
Tutor Experience
Doctoral Tutor - 5 years experience, teaching topics from the core building blocks of life right up to systems neuroscience. Strong focus on anatomy, human biology and genetics. My approach to teaching is to tackle the problems at the student's level, it makes no sense to explain a topic like biology from the top down, and so I like to take a more holistic approach to ensure that any of my students not only knows an answer, but understands the answer.
Private tutoring - 7 years experience, both online and in person, predominantly around GCSE and A-level, strong track record of repeatable grade improvement in my long term students.
Since entering academia I've been able to take on projects requiring more specialised knowledge and have helped many students through their dissertations, masters thesis and through work on their PhD, though this tends to be limited to my more direct fields (Genetics, Neurodegeneration, Synapse Biology).
