About Me
Following completing a degree in Pure Maths, my career began as a trainee actuary. I worked in pensions for a number of years gaining more experience in statistical techniques. I continued working in pensions in different departments including investment and consultancy before making the move to teaching.
I qualified as a teacher but decided that I preferred to tutor individuals and focus on them achieving their specific goals. I have now been tutoring for over seven years.
I also love playing tennis, running and yoga. So, recently I trained as a yoga teacher and I now teach four classes a week in addition to maths tutoring!

Our son was always secure in Maths, however, he lacked confidence in his abilities. At the end of year 9 it was becoming clear that his nerves would be the determiner of his success. Lucy worked with him for an hour a week. This continued throughout the COVID 19 pandemic and stayed online until he sat his GCSEs. He gained confidence and his current grades improved.
By Christmas in Year 11 he had moved from foundation level to higher level. Lucy continued to support him through this transition. Online tutoring is tricky for most people but Lucy managed to tutor him successfully with the added curve ball of encouraging a teenage boy!
Lessons continued up to the night before his GCSEs with Lucy being flexible enough to agree to additional sessions in the final few weeks, at his request.
His predicted GCSE target grade at the start of Year 10 was a grade 4. On GCSE results day he achieved a grade 7.
His improved confidence and greater depth of understanding in Maths, positively impacted on his Science grades and his general academic attitude. She really has made all the difference to his journey through numeracy. He no longer perceives Maths as something he can't do. We started using Lucy at the beginning of year 11, as our son was losing confidence in his maths ability.
