About Me
I have more than 12 years of teaching experience in the area of Physical Education and Sports, Exercise and Health Science (SEHS). I have taught in all three IB Programmes: PYP, MYP and DP giving me a perspective of how everything articulates since junior school. I’m very passionate about the areas of Teaching, Learning, being Gifted and Talented. I have conducted research within this area and published a scientific article which led to a special award as a lecturer at a World Congress with leading experts and editors of scientific journals.
Specifically in the Diploma Programme, I had many different roles such as: Head of the Diploma Programme and DP Coordinator, Workshop leader, Head of year 11 and 12 (worked side-by-side with another Diploma coordinator), Head of Department (for DP Sports Science and MYP PHE) and Oxford Study Courses specialist (intensive revision courses to prepare for DP exams), besides being a teacher and IB Examiner.
In addition, I’m also an IB Exams Standardisation Team Member, Team Leader and Examiner for the subject I teach (SEHS) – this means I’m part of the team that builds and standardises the IB Exams’ mark schemes.
In terms of Education, I have completed a Bachelor’s in Sports Science, a Masters Degree in athlete’s training, and the full syllabus of a Phd in Biomechanics (missing the Doctor's thesis).
Tutor Experience
Seven consecutive full SEHS DP Cycles (DP1
and DP2) were taught with results significantly above the world average in all of them.
