About Me

I first started out not enjoying Physics and was never planning on doing it for my A-Levels. I ended up choosing it because of my teacher's suggestion and this turned out to be the best decision for my academic trajectory. I enjoyed it alongside Chemistry during my first year of University, but I ultimately pursued this subject that enhanced my modelling and analytical skills. I currently work as a trainee actuary for a life insurance company in the West Midlands. My interests are strongly focused on the Physical Sciences and having developed a relatively late interest in the statistical side of physics, a career in quantifying risk seemed to be the natural step to take. Having an analytical mind has led me in pursuing careers that make use of my mathematical faculties and using any insights along the way to break down concepts to students in novel ways. I hope to pursue a career in physics research down the road and I ensure I keep up to date with any breakthroughs in the field.

Tutor Experience

I have over seven years of teaching experience with six years of assisting students in their applications to Oxbridge. For the most part, I teach Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry at an A-Level to Pre-University standard. My main strength as a teacher involves helping students see the connectivity of the various sciences and I aim to mention the relevance of taught concepts in other fields. I have had significant experience in preparing students for admissions tests (NSAA/ENGAA, PAT and MAT) and developing their creative problem-solving ability. This has led to a 50% success rate with students I mentor achieving a place on their respective courses at Oxbridge. I tend to teach concepts that find their place in the first year of an undergraduate course and guide students in seeing how these ideas can be derived from their current knowledge. I believe this has made students critical of what they learn at A-Level and appreciative of the concepts that underpin their subjects at GCSE, A-Level and University. I have also created resources in the form of solutions to admissions test questions for the NSAA and ENGAA that provide students with the most efficient methods for answering these time-pressured questions and highlight the skills they need to hone in order to achieve high scores in these tests.

Topic Expertise

I am able to cover the following admissions tests: Oxford PAT and MAT, Cambridge NSAA, ENGAA and TMUA.
I am able to provide mock interviews for Physics and Engineering as well as Chemistry.

I can also tutor A-Level Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, with Physics up to the first/second year of University.
