About Me

I have lived in a number of different countries over the years, including Portugal, Oman, Italy (Sicily), Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, as well as time in the UK. After university I also spent time volunteering in St Lucia with a wildlife conservation group, which reinforced my interest in the natural world. Alongside this I have travelled extensively for both work and pleasure, visiting places such as Nepal, India, South Africa, Canada, Belize and Sri Lanka.
I enjoy an active, outdoors lifestyle. I live in a rural village on the border of South Wales and England, surrounded by forest, and I spend time running, hiking in the local Welsh mountains and practising yoga. I am a trained yoga teacher and I value it for strength, flexibility and overall wellbeing. I am currently training for a half marathon, which fits well with my love of running and being outdoors.
I also enjoy sewing and make clothes when I have the time. Family is very important to me, and I value time with my husband, children and wider family, especially family holidays. I am also someone who enjoys learning and I am currently learning Portuguese, always looking to pick up new skills and interests along the way.

Tutor Experience

I have been teaching since 2009, with experience across secondary science and English language teaching in a range of international settings. My most recent role was Head of Science at a successful international school in Bahrain, where I led the department and taught across Key Stage 3 and 4 Science (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) and A Level Biology.
I am able to teach Biology, Chemistry and Physics at GCSE level, and Biology at A Level. My teaching focuses on strong subject knowledge, clear explanation and structured progression, helping students build confidence and understanding. I make use of technology and digital resources to support learning, bringing abstract scientific ideas to life and helping students engage with content in a more interactive and accessible way. As a subject leader, I was also responsible for curriculum planning, assessment design and supporting colleagues to improve student outcomes.
My approach is clear, structured and focused on building secure understanding through explanation, questioning and real-world application. I aim to make complex ideas accessible while maintaining appropriate challenge, and I place importance on developing confidence, independence and curiosity in learners. I adapt my teaching to meet the needs of a wide range of students in international contexts.
Prior to teaching science, I taught English as a Foreign Language (EFL) to students of different ages and nationalities in Europe and the Middle East, following my CELTA qualification. This experience strengthened my communication skills and ability to work effectively with diverse groups of learners.
