My passion is to support anxious parents and students; challenge high achievers and motivate underachievers to reach their full potential.
As a qualified and experienced teacher, I am efficient and organised and relate very well to young students. I am successfully able to establish appropriate boundaries and relations with my students.
I am a qualified English teacher with over 14 years’ experience as a classroom teacher and Head of Year.
My experience as a Head of Year allows me to understand the pressures of students outside of the classroom, as well as their educational transition from each academic school year.
I work in a Church of England school that has been Ofsted rated ‘Outstanding’ and am familiar with the current KS3 and KS4 curriculums. I am also an English Lecturer at a well-known college; supporting students who have not passed their GCSE English examinations at school, and may have lost their confidence.
I am an examiner for AQA and am aware of the required texts and skills for the English Language and English Literature examination papers (including iGCSE, Pearson Edexcel and OCR).
Throughout my career, I have gained a wealth of knowledge and resources that enable me to offer bespoke; interesting and engaging tuition sessions, while supporting students in increasing their confidence and attainment levels, so that they can reach their full potential.
I have taught students with various Special Educational Needs, including SEMH, ADHD, ASD, SLCN, hearing impairment and physical disabilities. My experience ranges from Mild Learning Difficulties (MLD) to more Specific Learning Difficulties (SLD).
My tuition style is skills based so that the skills acquired can be transferred across all English and Humanities (i.e. Religious Studies) examination papers.
I excel in helping students to exceed their target grades in GCSE English Language and English Literature. I am also very confident with the expectations and criteria for the Speaking and Listening component of the examination.
My tutoring style offers bespoke support to increase confidence in students' ability to express themselves and communicate effectively through different mediums, inside and outside of education.
I value the necessity to instil confidence and self-esteem in students by listening to them; building rapport and meeting their learning style/needs, to assist them in reaching their full potential.
