Recommendation letter from the university of Mälardalen:
This is a recommendation letter in support of the application submitted by Ms. Samia Talbi.
I got to know the candidate in spring 2019 while working in my current role as Head of Division of
Mathematics and Physics at Mälardalen University, Västerås, Sweden. Samia was introduced to me
by a fellow division head who has hired her as a supporting teacher for a student group in robotics
struggling with a course in mathematics. This gave great results, both in terms of students’
satisfaction and their course results.
Our contact resulted in part-time employment at my division in multiple courses on the basic level
where we had temporary vacancies. Samia has been over the years involved in courses Single
Variable Calculus, Multivariable Calculus and Vector Algebra, teaching both in English and Swedish.
She has had quite non-homogenous groups consisting of both students in mathematics and different
engineering profiles with usually different pre-knowledge in mathematics. Though these courses and
unleveled groups are from the pedagogical point of view challenging to teach, and achieving active
motivated student groups is a hard goal to reach, Samia navigated these tasks with ease. She is
energetic and positive, passionate about her teaching role and genuinely in love with mathematics,
and this is something that students positively respond to and appreciate. Samia has an engineering
background which was particularly useful for engaging engineering students using examples of
application of mathematical concepts covered in her courses.
During her last temporary employment in the autumn term 2022, she was engaged 50% which
allowed her to actively participate in division meetings, pedagogical fora, and subject meetings in
mathematics/applied mathematics. She actively participated in subject-related discussions and
development work of our courses. She is eager to try new/different methods of teaching in order to
engage students more and to inspire them to reflect on the gained knowledge and ways of its
implementation. Her course planning is detailed, well thought through with emphasis on student
centered learning.
Samia has also been actively involved in the division’s work on sustainable work environment. She
participated very actively in monthly division meetings, contributing with important insights and
propositions for improvement of our work conditions. Such involvement shows that the candidate is
responsible, honest, loyal, and reliable. She is very attentive and dedicated to her obligations,
showing a well-established work ethic.
The afore mentioned reflects my personal view of the candidate, her professional and personal
qualities, and abilities. I am genuinely honored to have had a chance to work with such a diligent,
kind, and positive person.
It is on the base of the above that I gladly recommend Samia for the position of the teacher in
mathematics, strongly believing that an opportunity to work in your group would be a wonderful

Letter of recommendation from Akadeva school:
Samia Talbi has been working as a mathematics teacher at Akadeva education since June of 2018, in
the city of Västerås. From March of 2022, Samia got promoted to head of mathematics section in
Akadeva Västerås. As of June 2022, she is also made responsible for secondary school teaching in our
Stockholm unit.
Her responsibilities include:
• Instructing mathematics.
• Planning, executing, closely following up, evaluating and improving the pedagogical
activity.
• Creating an academically stimulating environment where teaching quality criteria are
consistently met.
• Developing suitable pedagogical approaches and didactical methods as need arises.
• Collaborating with local authorities to better the output of mathematics education,
according to political priorities.
Our students typically consist of two groups. On the one hand, the newcomers, who mainly focus on
completing the middle school education level, quickly enter the labor market. On the other hand, we
have late teenagers and young adults, who had previously failed during their secondary school. They
are headed to university and need an approved grade in one or several mathematics courses.
Successful teaching of those students implies a strong ability to tackle a variety of cultural and
educational backgrounds, and hence requires professionalism and flexibility. Usually, it also
necessitates addressing special educational needs and learning difficulties.
Samia works extensively with both groups. Her expertise in the process of teaching and learning of
mathematics, her outstanding communication skills and tremendous dedication always convince her
students to collaborate, making them progress towards their greatest potential. Experience shows she
is successful in individualizing attention and can teach any mathematics content with high quality. Her
elevated academic skills make her perfectly comfortable meeting the questions and the expectations
of any student. Many students witnessed that she was the best teacher they met.
As a pedagogue, she is equally truly engaged in high achievers or ambitious students. Samia prioritizes
learners and learning, making Akadeva stand out within the mathematics teaching activity. This is a
major contribution of her, as this discipline is traditionally challenging to deliver.
She pursued all her tasks with an asserted leadership and professionalism.
Samia showed particular willingness to undertake challenges when Akadeva had to implement remote
education in our Stockholm unit. As from June of 2022, she put a considerable effort into making the
process dynamic and student-aware. She developed efficient routines and methods to adapt courses
to the students' individual needs and make them participate actively in remote courses. She built up
an appreciated digital database of qualitative lessons. She handled continuous feed-back with the
remote students. Our mathematics national tests results of the Stockholm school unit gradually
improved since then, the latest ones culminating at a success rate of almost 100%.
Her balanced abilities to work independently and in a group are an asset. Samia is an autonomous
problem-solver, but an equally engaged team-player with excellent interpersonal skills, who shares
and listens naturally.
We are highly delighted to have Samia in our team and grateful for her dedication. We understand her
wish to keep going with her career abroad. We recommend her as a mathematics pedagogue and head
