I have taught A'Level standard general chemistry at Kuwait University (Sept. 1979 - June 1990) to Medical and Chemistry students . I have taught general and organic chemistry at Sheffield Hallam University (Sept. 1990 - Aug. 2022) to HND, Science Education, Foundation Year and Undergraduate students. I was always a popular teacher and well liked by students with lots of praise for my teaching. Knowledge and command of my subject area allows me to make things more clear especially by doing past exam questions in tutorials. During this period of time I have written and contributed to numerous organic chemistry and organic spectroscopy courses/modules. I have written and taught numerous undergraduate chemistry practical classes. I have tutored students in past exam questions at A'Level chemistry. However, I am a specialist in organic chemistry and organic spectroscopy (IR, HNMR, CNMR, MS). I have been teaching Foundation Chemistry, undergraduate Chemistry (all levels) at Sheffield Hallam University for many years. I have done substantial research in synthetic organic chemistry over the years making novel compounds for the treatment of arthritis, bacterial infections and cancer e.g. curcumins, organo-sulphur drugs, quinolines and antibiotic derivatives resulting in publications in peer assessed international Journals. I have evaluated several PhD theses in chemical science participated in numerous UG exam boards for the chemistry degree. I can help students with their scientific report writing and theses.
