Hi, my name is Ben and I am a qualified teacher and postgraduate researcher working in London. My research career focuses on understanding quantum aspects of gravity in cosmology. In my role as a GTA and teacher I lead university tutorials and tutor A - level and undergraduate maths and physics.
I am deeply interested in science research and the natural world. I spend my time researching fundamental physics , teaching and travelling.
I gained my PGCE qualification to teach Maths in UK schools in 2017, working in comprehensive schools from GCSE to A-level. After my PGCE I mostly worked in intensive 1 - 1 tutorials, with students working towards their A levels in Maths, Further Maths and Physics. As a qualified teacher I was able to lead the students through the entire curriculum as well as providing revision support throughout their exams. I implemented the aims of the school leadership while acting as Head of the maths department for the tutorial college; leading a team of tutors with responsibility for developing the curriculum and maintaining teaching standards.
Since beginning my PhD in 2020, I have worked as a graduate tutor leading seminars, tutorials and problems classes in various subjects in maths and theoretical physics. I have tutored students through every year from first year courses up to MSc level. In my classes I mix clear explanation, group-work and one-to-one feedback to provide the best possible opportunity for my students to succeed in completing problem sheets and exams. I also provide written feedback on submissions to help students understand misconceptions and reach their full potential.
My approach to teaching is focused on identifying misconceptions to unblock the path to learning, and guiding students to find their own way to mastering the topic. I provide feedback and construct examples to help students truly understand the material and avoid wrote memorising. I also work to provide an environment in which students can feel totally confident in raising questions and gaining understanding.

Benjamin really is very good, my Son really values his tuition with him. Over the holiday's Benjamin has supported with A level Physics and my Son now feels more prepared for returning to year 13. I wish we could afford more time with him as the quality of learning is invaluable. We highly recommend!
Benjamin seems confident in his ability which is great. My son is really looking forward to his first tutor session.
"Benjamin was very helpful. His advice on how to approach the paper was invaluable and significantly improved my mock exam performance. He guided me through question types I struggled with, and taught me how to tackle them in a more systematic way." - Easton
