I am a French-American tutor, who recently graduated with an MSc in Social Anthropology at the University of Oxford. Raised in Paris, France, I took the Baccalaureate in 2017 where I specialized in Literature and Philosophy, and started tutoring in 2015, first privately, then alongside Tavistock Tutors in 2018. I now tutor French and Anthropology on the side of my research.
Having experienced education in 4 different countries, I am flexible and highly adaptable to new students and their demands. Whether a pupil is looking for confidence with French speaking or support to write a thesis entirely in French, my focus on grammar and writing structure is appropriate for all levels! I make things fun as well, so worry not about being bored :)
I read a lot in my spare time and enjoy communicating my enthusiasm for French Literature through my tutoring style. From simple grammar lessons to poetry reading, or from role play to the analysis of complex Jean-Paul Sartre, I am always eager to guide students when help is needed.
Fun facts about me: I did 12 years of ballet and considered going pro :)
I am a French Language and Literature tutor, who has been working with pupils ages 8 to 23 for now 6 years, from Introductory French to A Levels and IB, to Essay Writing for University students. I am completely fluent in both French and English, which makes me a great tutor for English students studying French. Here is a brief review of my experience:
* A Level French , reading/writing/speaking skills 2 h/week for 5 months, student achieved A*(2022)
* Pre-U French, grammar and language 3h/week for 3 months (2019)
*Introduction to French for a class of 3 University students 2h/week (2019)
*French Homework support for bilingual pupil 1h/week (2019)
*A Level French, essay structure and reading analysis 3h/week, student achieved A* (2018)
*Unique last minute session to help Undergraduate Student with French essay structure and syntax, student achieved a First (2018)
*Private tutoring in Paris, France: preparation for French Baccalaureate (2015-2018)
Over the years, I have had a wide range of pupils with very different levels in French and with varying goals. I am able to tutor all levels of French, but if I had to choose an area of expertise, I would say that I am specialized in French Literature, that is, reading and writing French. I am then the perfect match for any student looking for help in figuring out grammar and spelling, understanding texts, translating passages or structuring essays. That being said, I am available for students who are simply looking for support with homework or even upholding their speaking skills.
very helpful in explaining how to go beyond in the oral and how to develop the oral coherently
