Hi, I’m Mike a fully qualified teacher, examiner and moderator with over 21 years of experience specialising in GCSE and A-Level Computing & Maths.

I graduated from King's College London before beginning my career in the City, but soon chose to pursue my passion for education. Over the past two decades, I’ve held a range of specialist roles, including Head of GCSE and A-Level Computing, GCSE and A-Level exam moderator, Head of House, and professional tutor.

I have extensive experience teaching across all major UK exam boards, including AQA, Edexcel and OCR. This gives me detailed insight into mark schemes, assessment objectives and exactly what examiners look for in high-grade answers.

Alongside Computing, I have also taught Maths, Business Studies, General Studies and the Independent Research Project. I have provided one-to-one Maths tuition and, as a parent, have supported my own three children successfully through their 11+, GCSEs and A-Levels.

I work best with students who are motivated to make clear, measurable improvements in their grades. My lessons are structured, engaging and focused on results, featuring:

High-quality, tailored resources

Targeted exam practice and refined exam technique

Detailed, personalised feedback

Ongoing academic support between sessions

Choosing the right tutor is an important decision, so I offer a free introductory video call to discuss your goals, identify key areas for improvement and outline a clear plan to help you achieve your target grade.

If you’re aiming to build confidence, sharpen your exam technique and secure top results in GCSE or A-Level Computing, I would be delighted to support you.

About Me

Hi, I’m Mike a passionate and experienced teacher who genuinely loves helping students grow in confidence and ability.

With over 21 years in education, I’ve had the privilege of seeing hundreds of young people develop not just academically, but personally. There’s nothing more rewarding than watching a student move from uncertainty to confidence, from frustration to understanding, and from aiming for a pass to achieving grades they’re truly proud of.

I believe progress comes from feeling supported, challenged and understood. My approach is positive, encouraging and structured. I set high expectations, but I also provide the guidance, reassurance and clear strategies students need to reach them. Every lesson is focused on building confidence, developing strong subject knowledge and making measurable progress.

I aim to create a calm, supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and pushing themselves further. When students feel happy and supported, they achieve more and that’s exactly what I strive for in every session.

If you’re looking for a tutor who is experienced, encouraging and fully invested in your progress, I would love to help you succeed.

Tutor Experience

I am a fully qualified teacher with over 21 years of experience teaching in a wide range of school settings, including mixed comprehensive schools, single-sex boys’ and girls’ schools, and grammar schools. This breadth of experience has given me a strong understanding of how to adapt my teaching to suit different learning styles, abilities and academic goals.

Alongside my classroom career, I have worked as a private tutor, supporting students to make significant progress. I have successfully helped students move from GCSE grade 3 to grade 7 through structured lessons, targeted exam practice and consistent, personalised support. My focus is always on building confidence, strengthening understanding and delivering clear, measurable improvement.
