Hello! I'm a qualified and experienced Science teacher with a strong passion for helping students achieve their full academic potential. I specialise in A-level Chemistry and KS3/KS4 Science, combining deep subject knowledge with a friendly and supportive teaching style. I currently teach at a secondary school in Hertfordshire, where I also lead practicals, design engaging lessons, and support students through initiatives like the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
Before entering education, I gained valuable experience in both academia and industry, which has greatly enriched my teaching. Working in research and applied science environments helped me develop a deep understanding of how scientific concepts are used in the real world. It also taught me how to explain complex ideas clearly, think critically, and adapt my communication to different audiences — all of which I now bring into the classroom and tutoring sessions to make science more accessible and relevant for students.
My tutoring approach is structured yet flexible, focusing on building strong foundations, developing exam skills, and boosting confidence through active learning techniques such as retrieval practice and spaced repetition. Whether you're aiming to master tricky concepts, improve your grades, or prepare for exams, I’m here to support you every step of the way.
I am fully a qualified Science teacher who is an A-level Chemistry teacher. I have taught in UK secondary schools for many years, with considerable experience in KS3/KS4 Science. I have worked with students of many different backgrounds during my career, supporting both high achievers who aim for top grades as well as those who require a little extra help to build confidence and understanding. At present, I teach in a secondary school in Hertfordshire, where I am also a Year 7 form tutor and in charge of practical lessons across key stages.
I have tutored students one-to-one and small groups in the evenings both in-person and online. My tutoring is always student-centered, specializing in breaking down complicated topics and strengthening exam techniques while ensuring long-term retention through methods like active recall and spaced practice. I am familiar with both AQA and Edexcel, having successfully tutored students to get strong results across both boards.
My prime specialism is Chemistry at the A-leval, where I help students to grasp both concepts of the subject and advanced topics like Organic synthesis, Thermodynamics, Kinetics, and Electrochemistry. Good experience in teaching all three sciences (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics) at KS3 and KS4, with emphasis on the development of scientific thinking, problem-solving, and examination skills.
I excel at breaking complex scientific ideas up into clear, discrete steps and using strategic questioning to check understanding and deepen learning. I specifically assist students preparing for the AQA and Edexcel exam boards by advising how to tackle certain question types, interpret mark schemes, and study effectively.
Applying cognitively-proven techniques such as retrieval practice, interleaving, and spaced repetition will help boost memory retention and long-term understanding in every class. We can provide you with organized and personalized support to accomplish your goals, whether it is attaining a good grade or strengthening foundational knowledge.
