I'm based in Manchester, in the UK, and have long been committed to arts, culture and education. I've taught students from teenagers to those in their mid-80s. I specialise in one-on-one tutoring, for a bespoke approach, to offer support directly in the areas you're looking to. I'm really happy to go through draft work with you, offering suggestions for enhancement, presentation, and expansion. Likewise, I'm able to look to specific parts of the curriculum that need a bit more discussion and clarification. I'm all about building confidence, bringing your ideas out, and pushing work to a higher level.
Please see "My Areas..." below for information on GCSE / AS- and A-Level. For university-level support, from undergraduate to PhD levels, please see "Teaching and Tutoring Experience".
At the moment, around family commitments, I'm keen to offer online tutoring. Please do get in touch! I'm always happy to run a (free) first meeting to get a sense of how I can best help.
I have worked in UK universities for a number of years, teaching and supporting students from Foundation to PhD levels. I hold three degrees, including a PhD, and am published extensively.
For those looking for support with university-level learning and work, I am flexible, available at short notice, and can work in intense bursts (when deadlines are pending). I can offer:
* discussion of key concepts, with reading provided when requested
* development of your essay / dissertation plans for assessed work
* advice on module handbooks, their assessment points, and maximising your marks
* close reading of your drafts, with feedback (written and/or verbal) given, covering: argument evolution and clarity, citations and style, grammatical errors, whether it answers given questions
* scoping of relevant literature, with recommendations for reading
* advice / pointers on getting your work published by academic journals / presses
I can also assist with university applications.
