About Me

I’m an experimental immunologist with a PhD and several years of experience teaching and mentoring students across a wide academic spectrum—from IB Biology (SL & HL) to university-level courses and PhD research support. Alongside my research background, I’ve worked extensively as a private tutor, helping students not only improve their grades but develop a deep, conceptual understanding of biology. My teaching style is structured, analytical, and highly adaptive. I focus on the specific academic needs of each student, tailoring explanations and strategies accordingly. I rely heavily on visual representations and learning aids to break down complex mechanisms, strengthen exam technique, and support scientific writing and critical thinking. My goal is to build clarity, confidence, and independent thinking—so students feel equipped to succeed both in exams and beyond.

Tutor Experience

With over 13 years of experience teaching IB Biology internationally—from Brazil to Dubai—I have worked across multiple IB syllabi, including the current 2025 curriculum. I provide in-depth support for Internal Assessments, mock examinations, and final exam preparation, guiding students closely through each stage as a dedicated academic mentor. At university level, I tutor and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students across Medicine, Dentistry, Anatomy and Biological Sciences. Beyond research, my academic roles include postgraduate teaching in Human Molecular Genetics at UCL and undergraduate research supervision in Transplant Immunology at the Medical University of Vienna. This dual expertise in teaching and research allows me to support students to the highest academic standards.

Topic Expertise

My areas of expertise include human biology, molecular medicine, human genetics, immunobiology and immunology, cell biology, biochemistry, and neuroscience. I work comfortably across both foundational and advanced topics, integrating molecular mechanisms with physiological and clinical perspectives. I particularly enjoy mentoring PhD candidates, providing guidance on experimental design, conceptual clarity, and thesis preparation, helping them develop scientific independence and produce rigorous, high-quality research.

Client Reviews

Excellent explanations with clear powerpoints to explain information. Good variation between explanation of material and questioning to ensure I understand. May have been a bit slow at the beginning however this improved.

Qualifications

I am a full-time tutor since 2023, with a strong background in experimental immunobiology and molecular medicine. I held positions as Senior Research Associate in Transplantation Immunology at the Medical University of Vienna (2019–2023), and as Research Associate in Viral Immunogenetics and Transplantation Immunology at University College London and Oxford University (2015–2017). I earned my PhD in Experimental Immunobiology from University College London (2012–2015), investigating the role of the Hedgehog signaling pathway in γδ T cell differentiation, migration, and peripheral homeostasis. I also hold an MSc in Molecular Medicine from Imperial College London (2009–2010) and a BSc in Human Biology from the University of Birmingham (2006–2009).
