About Me
I am a qualified and highly experienced English tutor with over 15 years of teaching experience in the UK and internationally. I hold an MA (Hons) in English Literature and History of Art and a PGCE in English with SEN (Distinction), and I have worked with students across primary, secondary, GCSE, and A-level.
My tutoring approach is calm, structured, and encouraging. I aim to build students’ confidence while developing strong reading, writing, and analytical skills. I work particularly well with students who benefit from clear guidance, tailored strategies, and supportive teaching, including those with additional learning needs.
Alongside teaching, I am a professional artist and photographer, which allows me to bring creativity, visual literacy, and fresh perspectives into my teaching where appropriate, helping students engage more deeply and express their ideas clearly.
Tutor Experience
I have over 15 years of teaching experience across a wide range of educational settings in the UK and internationally, including London, Brighton, Manchester, Milan, Tokyo, and the Himalayas. I am a qualified English teacher and have taught English language and literature across primary, secondary, GCSE, and A-level.
In addition to classroom teaching, I have held senior roles including Head of Department and Head of Year, giving me extensive experience in curriculum planning, student progress tracking, and pastoral support. I have also worked as a Senior Examiner, which provides detailed insight into exam board expectations, assessment criteria, and how students can maximise marks in exams and coursework.
I have delivered specialist literacy and arts-based programmes, including workshops in collaboration with Manchester Art Gallery as part of Tate Modern’s Visual Paths to Literacy programme. This breadth of experience allows me to tailor tutoring carefully to each student, ensuring lessons are targeted, supportive, and results-focused.
