Both of my parents are actors, and run a theatre school for kids, so I guess it's no surprise I grew up loving the stage and screen. This love too me to LAMDA, where I've just graduated with my MFA in Professional Acting. I'm now a professional actor and have just set up my own production company in order to produce and make short films.
When I'm not acting or tutoring, I enjoy writing and going to the cinema. I'm also quite musical and like singing and playing the guitar. I played football for my college and hockey for my county, and keep fit by eating healthily, and going on runs or to the gym.
I believe through communication, honesty, empathy, and a lot of humour we can all have positive impacts on the lives of other people
At first, I started teaching to help out my parents at their theatre school, but I soon discovered how rewarding the experience of teaching was. I saw children grow in confidence and find their voice. After this I volunteered as a maths coach and nursery school assistant at local schools. Here I took more of a lead role in organising and running lessons, and assisting the teaching of children with alternative needs
Tutoring has allowed me to carry on this work in the specialist areas that I have studied and enjoyed the most. I have found throughout this, a flexible approach to tutoring works best, as each student is different and requires different approaches to their material. I also like to run informal sessions, to allow students to relax and feel comfortable to make mistakes and ask any questions they wish.
I work to ensure my students cover the content quickly and efficiently without leaving any gaps. I believe stimulating and interesting lessons mean they will look forward to lessons, and therefore be more engaged throughout.
