Online Biology Tutor Abigail

Welcome, I am a professional Science teacher and online tutor.

I aim to cultivate a genuine love for science through an in-depth understanding of the subject. I have a specialism in Biology, solidified after completing a Research Masters in Genetics allowing me to teach KS3 Science, GCSE Biology, Chemistry and Physics (Combined and Triple) and A-Level Biology.

Having taught in an Ofsted-rated 'Outstanding' school for the peak of my career in the top state secondary school in East London, I then had the opportunity to teach internationally in a British School in Dubai to a range of international students allowing me to develop the skill to teach a range of students from different backgrounds, cultures and abilities. I have also had experience teaching the iGCSE.

Whilst teaching through the COVID pandemic, I have become extremely well versed in using online software and programmes to enhance my teaching and provide a range of strategies in the classroom.

I understand that the comprehension of abstract processes can be an intimidating process, especially applying to exam style questions, and I am determined to eliminate those anxieties during my lessons. My focus of teaching is enabling all students to break down scientific questions to ensure they give complete and detailed answers required to gain top marks.

With a patient and engaging demeanour, I always foster an engaging atmosphere where students are encouraged to express themselves without hesitation. Tutoring online, I am fond of making bespoke PowerPoints and using interactive whiteboards during the lesson on Zoom and Google Classroom especially. Following an integrative teaching approach, it is vital students can grasp knowledge from the world around them and other subjects to aid their understanding of the sciences. After all, science is everywhere!
