I am a dedicated and passionate Chemistry teacher, combining a rigorous academic background with a proven track record of outstanding classroom results. Following the achievement of three A* grades at A-Level (Chemistry, Mathematics, and Further Mathematics), I graduated with a 2:1 from the University of Oxford (MChem Chemistry). I recently furthered my professional practice by securing a Distinction in my PGCE with QTS. My teaching philosophy centres on fostering deep curiosity and critical thinking, empowering students of all abilities to reach their full potential. This commitment is reflected in my consistent track record of outstanding academic outcomes, with 92% of my IGCSE students securing grades 9–7, and 77% of my A-Level cohort achieving A*–B grades. Fluent in Italian, I bring an international perspective and a warm, approachable style to my professional practice. Whether I am delivering challenging academic material, mentoring students through one-to-one tutoring, or drawing on my pastoral experience from my tutor group, I am deeply committed to inspiring and equipping the next generation of scientists.
Now in my third year of classroom teaching, my educational expertise is further grounded in extensive one-to-one tutoring experience that I have cultivated since beginning my university studies. I possess comprehensive experience delivering Chemistry instruction across all key stages, from Year 7 through to Year 13. Currently serving as a Teacher of Chemistry at Merchant Taylors' School, I design and deliver tailored lessons for the Edexcel specification at both IGCSE and A-Level. I recently achieved a Distinction in my PGCE with QTS from the University of Buckingham. My instructional approach is heavily grounded in evidence-based pedagogy; by utilising strategies such as faded scaffolding, retrieval practice, and active cold-calling, I effectively manage students' cognitive load to build robust conceptual understanding. As a technologically proficient educator, I seamlessly integrate digital platforms to enhance both my dynamic classroom instruction and my bespoke online tutoring sessions. I am highly adaptable, successfully differentiating my practice to stretch top-set cohorts while providing accessible, structured support for middle and lower sets. This focus on high-quality, targeted instruction—whether delivered to a full class or an individual tutee—yields outstanding academic outcomes: at IGCSE, 47% of my students achieve a grade 9 and 92% secure grades 9–7, whilst at A-Level, 46% attain A*–A and 77% achieve A*–B.
As a dedicated Chemistry specialist, I offer unparalleled insight into the precise demands of the curriculum. I possess comprehensive expertise across the entire syllabus, blending rigorous subject knowledge with targeted exam strategy to help students maximise their academic potential.
Exam Boards & Specific Papers:
Edexcel IGCSE Chemistry: Full coverage of the specification, providing targeted preparation for both Paper 1C and the more demanding Paper 2C.
Edexcel A-Level Chemistry: Extensive experience delivering the complete linear course, encompassing Paper 1 (Advanced Inorganic and Physical Chemistry), Paper 2 (Advanced Organic and Physical Chemistry), and Paper 3 (General and Practical Principles in Chemistry).
Topics & Themes:
Physical Chemistry: In-depth support for mathematically rigorous topics, including thermodynamics, kinetics, and chemical equilibria.
Organic Chemistry: Demystifying complex reaction mechanisms, organic nomenclature, and multi-step synthesis pathways.
Inorganic Chemistry: Detailed exploration of transition metals, periodicity, and advanced electrolysis.
Practical Skills: Strong focus on the Core Practicals, ensuring students can confidently tackle experimental methodology, evaluation, and data analysis questions.
Exam Technique:
I am deeply familiar with how mark schemes are applied in practice and can accurately identify the technical nuances that differentiate top-tier answers. I train students to decode complex exam phrasing, satisfy strict Assessment Objectives, and avoid common misconceptions, ensuring they approach every paper with confidence and rigorous precision.
