I love to travel! Whenever I can I aim to broaden my horizons and experience new cultures and countries. Not only is this really exciting for me but it also helps me to put my own subject knowledge into perspective and apply this to real world examples.
I completed my PhD in Geography, at the University of Sheffield. Prior to this, I was a Masters student in MSc Environmental Change and International Development, obtaining a merit. I completed my Undergraduate degree at the University of Cambridge, where I studied MA Geography, and obtained a 2.1.
I have experience of privately tutoring a variety of students from KS3 up to University Level and have prepared students for a number of different examinations, as well as having examiner experience at both GCSE, A Level and University level.
I have taught at both undergraduate level and masters level at the University of Sheffield. As part of this role I have also undergone professional development and have achieved Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA).
Most recently I have worked at a leading international school delivering CAIE iGCSE, Edexcel iGCSE, and CAIE A Level Geography courses. In June 2023 100% of my A Level students achieved A*, and 100% of my GCSE students achieved grades 8 to 9. In June 2024 92% of my A Level students achieved A-A*, with none falling below a grade B.
For each session, I shall prepare a series of notes or exam practice questions, which I will supply to the student. I aim to relate all material covered to the exam, as ultimately exam technique will be key to success at these levels. Wherever possible, I will make sure the student understands the work covered through setting a series of tasks and then providing feedback , if required, as part of my session rate.
I aim to be easily available to be contacted by phone and e-mail if extra help or advice is ever needed. I am very flexible and will try to accommodate most student's needs.
Geography, Environmental Science/Studies
He teaches extremely well, and I saw a massive improvement in my grades. His teaching style is on point, and he manages to make me understand even the most complex topics easily. 10/10 would recommend.
Daniel is the best Geography tutor we have come across - he is very professional and knows exactly what we need!

From Caroline (5/5): (A-Level Geography) Dan is a wonderful tutor, he has already really helped my daughter with her A-level Geography studies, which she finds really challenging, and he is building up her confidence with such patience and understanding. He has an excellent method of teaching, encouraging and informative but getting her to work as much out for herself as possible. He has sent her lots of resources to work through which has been invaluable. He is always quick to reply to a message and very punctual as well. I would highly recommend him.

From Charlotte (5/5): (A-Level Geography) I received a C grade in my AS exams and contacted Dan in the January of Year 13 to help with my AS resits and my A2 exam content. I just received my A level exam results, and I achieved an A* in Geography, including full UMS in my unit 1 resit.
Daniel was exactly what I was looking for. He is clearly very knowledgeable and has a passion for Geography. Daniel sets essay homework every week, which I believe is essential for success. The homework was marked and discussed in lesson, always with relevant and useful comments for improvement. Through working with Daniel my general essay writing competence improved markedly and led to an improvement in my History A level also. Daniel is extremely amiable and I looked forward to every lesson. He seemed to genuinely want to help. If I made a mistake or didn’t understand something, Dan never made me feel stupid. If a pupil puts in the same amount of hard work as Dan does, the partnership will prove successful, as it did for us. I cannot recommend him highly enough, he is extremely thorough, conscientious and knows what he’s talking about.
Thank you Dan!

From James (5/5): (University Geography) A stroke of brilliance! Daniel is a fantastic university tutor!
---
From Lynne (5/5): (A-Level Geography) Daniel was a great tutor , enthusiastic ,organised and came with plenty of resources. He was also flexible with timings.
---
From Harry (5/5): (A-Level Geography) Thorough and coherent tuition. Useful and detailed feedback on past papers with helpful tips for improvements and encouragement. Active lessons with whiteboard activities and exam question planning. Helped me significantly.
Also, Daniel is a nice guy who I got on well with. I would recommend him to anyone with Geography struggles, or anyone who wants to improve.
Thanks for you help, Daniel.
---
From Jo (5/5): (A-Level Geography) Daniel was very helpful and conscientious. He provided useful power point presentations and helped our daughter improve her AS Geography form a C to an A.
---
From Nicola (4/5): (GCSE Geography) Really helpful and forwarded extra reference after lessons. Reliable and I would definitely recommend.
---
From Steve (4/5): (A-Level Geography) Daniel is a very friendly and approachable individual, he is extremely helpful and very professional, he is also conscientious, reliable and very knowledgeable and we cannot recommend him highly enough. My son needed extra help for his A Level exams. Daniel’s questions covered specific topic areas. He provided vast, high quality resource which was discussed during contact time. My son found the lessons helpful, enjoyable, and worthwhile allowing him to understand the topics in a wider context; this gave him confidence for his exam. I would recommend Daniel to anyone who needs help

From Maria (5/5): (GCSE Geography) I haven't started lessons yet, because my son was busy with exams, but contacted the tutor and seems very helpful and available!
Thanks
Maria
