University of Oxford Master's Graduate in Mathematics and Philosophy
• First Class Honours UG
• Awarded 2020 Gibbs Prize for performance in Mathematics examinations
I specialize in online one-to-one tuition for Maths and Computer Science-related Oxbridge applications, as well as undergraduate Pure Maths. I have helped students receive offers from Oxford, Cambridge and Imperial to study Mathematics.
My aim is to help you gain a strong understanding of mathematical concepts that will enable you to solve problems confidently and independently. To do this, I teach how to proactively vary and experiment with ideas so that you can discover new techniques and make links between different areas of maths by yourself. When teaching, I like to use online tools to help you visualize and interpret problems from different perspectives.
On the side I enjoy doing some recreational programming, such as making custom trading card game effects in Lua that are beyond the boundaries of the physical game and often impossible to implement IRL.
I have 450+ hours tutoring experience, specializing in Oxbridge University admissions for Mathematics and Computer Science-related degrees. I have helped students receive offers from Oxford, Cambridge and Imperial.
I also tutor undergraduate Pure Maths including Linear Algebra, Calculus, Analysis, Groups, Rings, Set Theory and MVC for economics. My subject knowledge covers the full GCSE and A-level Maths and Further Maths courses.
I have taught a variety of maths admissions exams including the MAT, STEP, TMUA and IC AERO/EEE. During my degree I worked as a Student Mentor at the Oxford Mathematical Institute, supporting pupils in their MAT preparation. Furthermore I have written and produced full video courses on Oxbridge maths interviews, the MAT and TMUA.
Over time I have created a wide range of unique private teaching resources including MAT problem sheets; mock exam papers; Oxbridge maths interview question banks; Personal Statement and Interview guides; and wider reading lecture notes for recreational maths and mathematical problem-solving.
Other areas I've tutored: Philosophy interview and Personal Statement preparation, mathematical problem-solving, Philosophy of Mathematics and wider reading for Maths and Statistics.

We are really happy we can have such an excellent professional to work with our son. He seems to know very well, how to make our son work hard and keep him interested at the same time. We really like it, since we think taking more challenges is the only way to improve in a subject. We had multiple tutors before and we like Richard the most. We can easily rate him 10 out of 10 - Sandra
