Online Biology Tutor Apurva

I've been tutoring for over 4 years now, working with GCSE and A-Level students in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics, both privately and through Libra Education. I also love helping students with medicine admissions: UCAT and BMAT prep, personal statements, and interview coaching. Having gone through the process myself (I was lucky enough to receive offers from all four medical schools I applied to: Cambridge, UCL, King's College London, and Barts and the London), I know how stressful it can be, and I try to make it feel a lot more manageable for my students.

My approach breaks learning into three simple stages: Understanding the concept, Memorisation of the key facts and methods, and Application through exam-style practice. I like to adapt this to each student rather than teaching the same way every time. Some students need more time getting comfortable with the concept first, while others are ready to dive straight into past papers. Lessons are always interactive, and I check in regularly to make sure things are actually clicking, rather than just assuming they are.

Outside one-to-one tutoring, I currently supervise Cambridge undergraduates in Cancer Biology as part of the Natural Sciences Tripos, running weekly small-group sessions and marking their work. I've also mentored students through Zero Gravity, supporting high-achieving students from underrepresented backgrounds with personal statements, interviews, and general guidance on applying to competitive universities.

I've been really happy to see several of my students go on to secure places at G5 universities (Oxbridge, UCL, Imperial) for Medicine and Biological Sciences, and I'm comfortable teaching across exam boards including AQA, Edexcel and OCR.

Sciences (GCSE & A-Level): Biology, Chemistry, Physics - confident across AQA, Edexcel and OCR specifications. Strong focus on exam technique, past paper practice, and building solid foundations in core concepts.

Mathematics (GCSE & A-Level): Full spectrum from foundation GCSE through to A-Level Pure, Statistics and Mechanics.

Medicine & Dentistry Admissions: UCAT (scored 3050, top 1%) and BMAT (scored 7.6, 8.1, 3.5A, top 0.01%) preparation, including timed practice, section-specific strategy, and past paper walkthroughs. Also support personal statements and interview preparation (MMI and panel formats), drawing on my own successful applications to Cambridge, UCL, King's and Barts.
