About Me

Before embarking on my teaching career I spent some years working in the business and logistics sectors. Since making the switch to teaching I have become fascinated by the discipline, and I particularly enjoy delving into current education research to improve my own practice as a teacher. My students can count on a dedicated tutor offering a bespoke service directed at each student's goals.

Outside of the classroom, I enjoy gardening, reading, and riding my bike through the very mountainous part of Spain where I live.

Tutor Experience

I have been teaching both Business Studies and Economics for ten years at A Level (IAL - Edexcel) and iGCSE Business Studies (CIE) for six. My students are 14-18 year olds, and I teach all ability levels with excellent results.

Due to my experience as a classroom teacher I am familiar with the snags and complications that arise when tackling economic theory. I also have a lot of experience helping students think about, and understand, complex ideas, and learning to apply them to real world examples.

My experience with my syllabus means that I'm confident in teaching typical Micro content (e.g. S&D, price determination, market failures, government intervention, business behaviour (TOTF), the labour market and more) and Macro (national income, inflation & unemployment, Keynesian & Neo-Classical equilibria and output gaps, demand and supply-side policies, international trade, growth & development and more)

As your tutor I can:

- Drill syllabus content, particularly key terms, via methods such as retrieval practice
- Help you with graphing diagrams, to make sure you know what you need to achieve full marks in your tests and exams
- Work with you to develop your analytical skills via the chains of analysis technique
- Highlight good writing and develop your abilities, ensuring that your thoughts are logical, well-structured and clear
- Demystify the mathematical content such as the elasticities formulae and calculating index numbers
- Improve your reading skills to make you more effective under time pressure in your assessments
- Signpost good exam technique and help you avoid some of the pitfalls that students fall for during their assessments

Most of all, I want you to feel confident in your abilities as a budding economist, and to ask deeper questions of the world around you.
