My daughter sat her English exam in the summer of 2024. She had a complete panic attack on the day of her exam and was so disappointed when she got her grade 5 in August. I assured her it was a pass and that given what had happened on the day, she had done so well. Anyway, she wasn’t happy as she knew she was capable of so much more.
Her confidence was low so I asked around for an English tutor and Carla Clay was recommended to us.
My daughter only had a handful of lessons with Carla and she re-sat her exam in November. In such a short space of time the change in her attitude and her confidence was tenfold and that was down to Carla. She saw her potential in her and told her that and worked with her on a few techniques that she could utilise in the exam.
My daughter got her result last week and got a grade 7. She was so so happy as was Carla when I called to tell her. My daughter’s words were ‘Carla helped me so much and she is a good tutor genuinely’.
Thanks again Carla. She is still on cloud 9! x

Morning Carla wanted to share this with you, English Language 8 and English Literature 7 - He is neuron pleased. Thank you so much for everything that you did for him. Re English language he was on a 4 when he started with you and now, he’s got an 8 in Language. It meant a lot to him as he always struggled with his confidence. Thank you !!!!!!!

“Would highly recommend Carla at Chrysalis Education. We only realised our daughter was dyslexic at the start of year 10. She always rejected any extra support until just a couple of months before her GCSES when she was predicted 3s in both English language and literature. Carla couldn’t have been more helpful or flexible in supporting her. She went on to receive a 5 in English literature and a 6 in English language and is thrilled. Not only was she supported in her academic learning but essentially in her own confidence and belief. Thank you.”
Rufus - Taught during Y10-11
Thank you so much for all you have done for Ruus Whatever he achieves, I don’t think we could have got to this point as smoothly without you and I’m not just referring to his increased confidence at English but his confidence in other subjects too, his general motivation and engagement with learning and revision. I know that he has genuinely enjoyed his sessions

I will be forever grateful for the time and support Carla gave my daughter, who went from below average and had a dislike for English in early secondary school to becoming so passionate about the subject. Carla’s encouragement was over and above and made by daughter believe in herself and now she is predicted straight A* in all her Alevels. As I said, forever grateful

Mrs Clay is an exceptional and inspiring teacher who really helped to develop my language and analytical skills in English. She is highly supportive and attentive to the individual needs of students, allowing them to reach their full potential. I am incredibly grateful to Mrs Clay for her dedication to teaching, as it has given me more self-confidence and has ultimately allowed me to succeed in achieving my dreams.

Grace Simmons - Former Student
Throughout the course of my English GCSE, Mrs Clay helped me to reach my goal of a grade 7 in both
English literature and language by providing in-depth notes, and analysis, in addition to quality teaching.
Furthermore, over the years of being in her lessons, Mrs Clay helped me with my lack of confidence both in and out of the classroom, by giving me the extra support I needed to finally start believing in my abilities as a student.
