About Me
I am an experienced History teacher who has taught and led teams across all sectors and all key stages. I enjoy spending time with my young family and pets on our family farm where we grow cereal crops and vegetables.
Tutor Experience
I have been an Subject Leader in history for 11 years, leading a department of five other teachers in KS3-KS5 courses. I am an expert tutor in Edexcel/Pearson GCSE, AQA and IGCSE with all of my students imprving their grades in their 2022 exams from their mock onwards. Many students enjoy their work and engage deeply in the subject.
At GCSE I tutor; Germany 1918-45, Cold War, Medicine Through Time, Elizabethan England, the Norman Conquest, The American West and Crime and Punishment Through Time as well as all the IGCSE modules.
At A Level I tutor; The American Dream: reality and illusion, 1945-1980, The making of a Superpower: USA, 1865–1975, The Making of Modern Britain, 1951–2007 and The Making of Modern Britain, 1951–2007. I also provide support with Component 3: Historical Investigation.
My preferred pedagogy is to teach/represent the key knowledge and skills and then to assist students in working carefully through concentre and then more abstract thinking to reach assessment goals.
Topic Expertise
I have been a team leader for Edexcel/Pearson at GCSE level for their Paper 3 Germany 1918-45. I have also examined on Edexcel/Pearson Paper 1 Medicine Through Time.
I have taught across all key stages in history (having written primary curriculum as well) with particular focus on KS4 examinations. My expertise are on Germany 1918-45, USA 1870-1990, Norman England and Medicine Through Time.
I have tutored across a range of papers including AQA, OCR and Edexcel/Pearson A Level and IGCSE.
