I most enjoyed studying essay based humanities subjects at schools - as I enjoy reading, analysing and writing. I studied History at Cambridge where I developed an interest in intellectual history (the history of thought/philosophy). This led me to complete a Master's in Philosophy at King's College London to take my interest further.
I have maintained a strong interest in philosophy and enjoy tutoring it to all levels.
I tutor all different levels, from A-Level Philosophy and Religious Studies, to undergraduate and postgraduate, as well as those who just wish to learn more about the subject.
I have been tutoring on Spires for a year and a half, but have previously tutored history, philosophy, and HAT preparation.
My approach is threefold. First, I like to understand each student's starting point and specific goals. Secondly, I tailor my approach to each student - coming up with a plan that reflects their individual needs. Thirdly, I take a flexible and dynamic approach to this plan, which can adapt as the student themselves evolve and develop.
My two key aims are 1) to help students appreciate the interesting nature of the subjects I teach and 2) to help them develop greater self-confidence in their own abilities. I believe that this is the best way to optimise their academic performance and help them realise their potential.
