I grew up in the midlands and took A-levels in Psychology, Human Biology and ICT. When I finished my university degree I decided to take a gap year in China - little did I know this would turn into a ten-year stint! I began my teaching career by teaching English as a Foreign Language to Chinese students. I then jumped at the chance to open psychology as a brand new subject at one of the leading A-level schools in Shanghai.
I thrived on the pressure of building up a brand new department from scratch and enjoyed watching it go from strength to strength, resulting in 80% of psychology students achieving A/A* at A level (well above the global average of 16%).
I later took on the role of Head of the entire Humanities department, overseeing history, geography and psychology. Within this role, I particularly enjoyed training new psychology teachers to ensure their understanding and delivery of the syllabus.
But my real passion was in guiding students through their A level psychology exams; for my final two years at the school, one of my students achieved the highest overall A-level psychology score in the whole of China for Cambridge International Examinations exam board.
I teach:
- A level psychology (CAIE/ AQA/ OCR/ Edexcel/ WJEC)
- GCSE psychology
My love for psychology began when I first started studying it for my own A-levels. The subject just seemed to click with me and I got scores of 100/100 for the AS examinations taken at the end of year 12. I went on to study psychology at university, specializing in Social Psychology.
I have now taught psychology for 9 years, including launching and teaching A-level psychology at one of the best A-level schools in Shanghai. For two years in a row, one of my students achieved the highest overall A-level psychology score in the whole of China for the CAIE exam board.
Upon returning to the UK, I spent two years teaching GCSE and A-Level Psychology at a small independent school in Yorkshire.
I am now at one of the leading boarding schools in the UK teaching A-level psychology for the AQA exam board and also IB psychology at both standard and higher level.
I have also tutored students taking Edexcel, OCR and WJEC A-Level Psychology.

Hannah has been so helpful and very accommodating to fit lessons in when needed. Really grateful to have found someone so positive and able to clearly explain everything that was asked. Thank you :)
Hannah always gives useful and informative feedback and my son enjoys his Psychology sessions with her. Thank you so much
Hannah is extremely relatable and a great tutor. Highly recommend.
The session was really good and useful
makes lessons really interesting
excellent
Helpful and encouraging. Very clear about the expectations for the examination
Really helpful, she kept explaining that despite my answer being good or enough to reward marks there may be other ways to explain it that's shorter/ easier to understand and therefore more likely to give me the marks more successfully each time rather than through complicated waffle.
very thorough and helped me to understand the study
Hannah is so great, she helped extend my knowledge and feel confident in my evaluation!
