I love working with numbers and this is why I pursued a bachelor, graduate diploma, masters and doctorate in finance statistics and accounting. I enjoy number crunching and explaining what numbers mean. I get a lot of students who tell me that they are scared of numbers and I love teaching these students because I get the chance to witness the 'light bulb' moment when they understand something that they thought was so difficult. I believe that with practice anyone can be good at numerical subjects and that working with numbers doesn't have to be a painstaking affair.
I am a lecturer with eight years experience in teaching introductory finance, statistics and accounting to undergraduate and masters students. I have a PhD degree in finance from Federation University (Australia), a Master of Applied Econometrics from Monash University (Australia) and a Bachelor of Commerce degree major in Finance from Strathmore University (Kenya). I enjoy teaching students how to critically analyse numerical information and present it in a form that is suitable for responsible decision making in a corporate or non-corporate setting. I have experience in teaching people from different cultural and educational backgrounds. I understand that some students feel overwhelmed by numerical subjects and look forward to working with them to overcome this challenge.
