I have a great deal of experience in education across the world, including working as a teacher, examinations coordinator, academic manager, Head of Department and Vice Principal in countries including China, Italy, the UK, Saudi Arabia, The United Arab Emirates, the Czech Republic and Azerbaijan to name but a few.
I've taught English Language and English Literature for over 30 years at leading international schools, both as Head of English and Vice Principal. I also teach History, bringing the same rigorous approach to both subjects. My students study GCSE, IGCSE, A Level, IB English programmes, IB Italian programmes and IELTS—and they consistently achieve strong results.
Having worked across many countries, I'm familiar with helping students adapt to British and International Baccalaureate exam boards, from Grade 6 through to A Level and IB Higher Level Diploma. I hold IB Category 1 Teacher status and understand the particular demands of these different systems.
My focus is straightforward: helping students read critically, write clearly, and think independently. Whether you're struggling with essay structure, aiming for top grades, or need to improve your confidence, I tailor my approach to what you actually need rather than a one-size-fits-all method.
I've found that students make the most progress when they understand not just what to do, but why—so in our lessons I prioritise developing genuine understanding over exam tricks. That said, I know the mark schemes and examination requirements inside out and can help you develop your skills to meet them.
If you're looking for experienced, no-nonsense support with English Language, English Literature, History or learning Italian, please get in touch. I'd be delighted to work with you.
