About Me

Hello! I’m Jessica, and I genuinely believe that every student can be successful in maths with the right support, encouragement and teaching. One of the most rewarding parts of my job is seeing students who once believed they “weren’t good at maths” grow into confident learners who tackle challenging problems with resilience and pride.

My own journey into teaching has given me a real appreciation for the importance of education. I completed my Mathematics degree as a mature student while balancing work and family life, an experience that strengthened my resilience, organisation and belief that learning is a lifelong process. It also helps me relate to students who may lack confidence or feel that success is out of reach.

Outside of tutoring, I work full-time in a secondary school as Second in Faculty, where I enjoy developing curriculum resources, supporting colleagues and continually improving the learning experience for students. I am passionate about making mathematics accessible, relevant and enjoyable, rather than something to be feared.

My lessons are calm, supportive and encouraging. I take time to understand how each student learns best and adapt my teaching accordingly. I celebrate progress, however small, because confidence grows through success. I believe students learn most effectively when they feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and challenging themselves without fear of getting things wrong.

Parents often tell me they appreciate my professionalism, communication and commitment to helping their child succeed. I provide regular updates on progress and work closely with families to ensure students remain motivated and focused on their goals.

Whether your child needs extra support, wants to improve their grades or is aiming for the very top marks, I am committed to helping them achieve their full potential while building confidence that lasts well beyond their exams.

Tutor Experience

I am a fully qualified Maths teacher (QTS), Edexcel GCSE Maths Examiner and Second in Faculty at a successful secondary school. Over the past seven years, I have worked with students across the full range of abilities, from those who need to build confidence and secure a Grade 4 to high-attaining learners striving for Grades 7–9.

Before becoming a teacher, I worked as a specialist SEND Numeracy Teaching Assistant, where I developed a strong understanding of how different students learn and how to adapt teaching to meet individual needs. This experience continues to shape my teaching today, enabling me to support learners with a wide range of abilities, including those with SEND, anxiety around maths and gaps in prior knowledge.

Alongside classroom teaching, I have significant leadership responsibilities. As Second in Faculty, I help shape the mathematics curriculum, develop teaching resources, support colleagues and analyse student performance to improve outcomes. I have designed targeted intervention programmes and revision resources that have contributed to improved GCSE results and increased student confidence.

As an Edexcel examiner, I have first-hand knowledge of how GCSE papers are marked and what examiners are looking for. I use this insight to teach students not only the mathematics they need to know but also the exam techniques that help them maximise their marks.

My tutoring is always personalised. I begin by identifying each student’s strengths and areas for development before creating lessons that are engaging, structured and focused on measurable progress. Every session combines clear explanations, guided practice, independent problem solving and regular retrieval to ensure learning is retained over time.

Whether supporting a student who has lost confidence or stretching someone aiming for the highest grades, my goal is always the same: to help every learner develop the skills, understanding and confidence they need to succeed in mathematics.
