Following postgraduate studies in Forensic Science, then a short stint in science communication and publishing, I found that helping others understand science was something I was passionate about. I enjoy breaking down the barriers of science. I believe that anyone can understand and succeed in science, and I will adapt my teaching to your learning style, be it visual or kinaesthetic. I use an extensive bank of resources built from over 20 years of teaching to help you achieve your goals.
Personally, I enjoy gardening, keeping fit and reading crime novels. Science it at the root of all of my interests and I'm keen to encourage more and more people to consider science careers.
I have a PGCE in Secondary Chemistry from the University of Birmingham but became a science tutor many years before. I also possess a BSc in Pathobiology from the University of Reading and an MSc in Forensic Science from Kings College London. My teaching experience spans 20 years including positions in the state and private sector. Most recently I taught in an FE college, teaching level 3 science. I also taught on degree courses in forensic investigation where I taught forensic medicine, physical chemistry and dissertation preparation.
My teaching qualifications and experience have enhanced my skills in private tuition over the last 20 years and I am skilled in a number of online teaching platforms including Zoom and Microsoft Teams. I enjoy making the online classroom as interactive as possible so that students can hone their own skills through active learning, listening and exam practice.
My subject specialisms include all areas of chemistry and biology at all levels. I also cover physics up to AS level
