About Me

Oxford Physics graduate and qualified secondary science teacher. Currently teaching in prestigious private British school in Valencia, Spain. Returned to teaching last year after successful career in product design and technology. Originally qualified through the Teach First programme in London. Trained Teach First leadership coach.

Within my current role, responsible for developing curricula for a range of abilities and nationalities, 11-18 years old. Delivering curriculum enrichment activities focused on creativity. Accredited by the Smithsonian Institute in ‘Teaching Critical Thinking’.

Previously led communications strategies for technology startups, and produced numerous technology conferences in San Francisco, San Diego, London and Barcelona. In my spare time I paint in my studio in Valencia, and study remotely with the Delft University of Technology on communicating complex scientific ideas through illustration.

Tutor Experience

Three years experience as a teacher in international schools, over ten years experience in technology communications. Trained in the TGROW method of coaching and Harvard's 'Project Zero' techniques for teaching critical thinking skills. Served as a School Governor specialising in community communications and STEM (Science Technology Engineering Maths) innovation.

My approach to tutoring is student-led, drawing on and developing the strengths of the student and responding to individual learning styles. While closely following curricula to ensure exam success, I tailor all resources to engage, challenge and inspire.

Topic Expertise

Physics from 11+ to GCSE & A-level, specialising in using real-world examples to help students grasp theoretical concepts. Especially dedicated to helping Visual and Kinesthetic learners achieve their 'aha' moments.

My final research at Oxford was in Crystal Analysis using X-ray Diffraction, after taking several options in Earth Sciences and Geology, with particular interest in Volcanology. Classical Physics options studied include Optics, Quantum Mechanics, Relativity, Astrophysics and Particle Physics.

In my teaching practice, I lead curriculum enrichment in Design & Technology and Creativity, with options in Product Design & Innovation. Able to offer Vector Graphics, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator tuition to both my Design students and in Physics as a tool for 3D modelling and visualisation.
