About Me

I come from a family of teachers and I thoroughly enjoy delivering both practical and theoretical music at all age phases. I have experience of teaching Music from key stages 1 through to key stage 5, my main priority being to enable pupils to reach their individual potential. I have taught across Primary and Secondary as a specialist Music teacher and as a TEFL teacher.

I have over ten years of peripatetic violin and piano teaching experience within schools and privately and in my classroom teaching, I have been complimented by senior leadership on my excellent behavioural management, extensive subject knowledge and delivery, with noticeable high levels of pupil engagement and motivation in my lessons. As a professional performer, I have first-hand experience of the music trade, having performed in such events as the BBC Proms and the Phantom of the Opera at Dubai Opera. I am active performer and continue to work at high-profile events and concert venues across the world.

Tutor Experience

I have been teaching for over ten years, first starting as a violin and piano tutor in schools in London and progressing to becoming a classroom teaching assistant for the Music department of an inner-London school.

It was during this time that passion for teaching really materialised and I thoroughly enjoy communicating my commitment and passion to performing music to my students. One of my main focuses is making sure my students have a thorough theoretical knowledge of music so they are equipped with the tools for independent learning. This gives even the most timid of learners the confidence to pursue their goals, however big or small. I also like to focus on the psychology of performance, which is something I elected to study in detail at university. This is such an important skill, especially for younger learners and can make or break whether a student continues the learn and play their instrument in the longer-term.

Above all, I am friendly and motivating teacher, simply because I love my subject and therefore so do my students. I see the ability in everyone I teach, making lessons rewarding, from the beginner student to the advanced performer. I have full knowledge of both the ABRSM and Trinity exam boards, as well teaching to performing diploma level.

Topic Expertise

Having studied Music at Cambridge University, the Royal College of Music and the Zuercher Hochschule der Kuenste, I have a thorough knowledge of both academic and practical music. I have a particular interest in music theory and history and am a qualified British-curriculum secondary teacher with a specialism in Music, teaching up to A-level.
