As a tutor I am focussed on improving a student's weak spots, and thorough in my explanation and testing to ensure a student is able to take away as much as possible.

Though I have recently been focussed on studying for finals, during my spare time I have been heavily involved in organising accessible charity projects within Oxford. As a co-founder of Collect4Calais (hoping to raise awareness, funds, and provisions for the Calais refugee camps) and an executive member of Oxford University Pink Week (where we hosted fun and informative events around Oxford to raise awareness for regular breast checking and breast cancer care charities), I have engaged widely on a university platform to communicate messages pertinent to contemporary society. Additionally, I have worked on a number of university balls in varying capacities - negotiating contracts with popular performers and ensuring all ball-goers have a memorable evening.
I have informally tutored through school mentoring schemes since the age of 16 - focussing primarily on helping improve GCSE students' essay structure and style. Though I don't have any specific tutoring qualifications, the experience I have amassed has greatly aided my communication skills and highlighted to me that not all students develop in the same way or experience a uniform set of difficulties. When tutoring, I first ask a student what they feel least confident in tackling before assessing indirectly whether this is actually the root of the problem or simply a symptom of another underlying problem (e.g. difficulties in structuring essays or maximising the use of primary source analysis). This methodical style lends itself to thorough proof-reading and hopefully boosting the skill set of the tutee.
