About Me
I am a qualified teacher who has spent the last 12 years of my career working in the West Midlands. I love my subject, and believe that if you really want to succeed then you need to love geography as well; my teaching is based in this passion. My teaching has always been based on developing strong relationships with my students and being able to ask those questions that we need to ask without fear.
Outside of teaching and tutoring, I love reading and going to live music events (although I am getting a bit old to stand at these!).
Tutor Experience
I have exceptionally strong knowledge of GCSE and A Level geography having taught these since the specifications changed back in the mid-2010s; however, my subject knowledge is strong across all exam boards and the national curriculum - and I will always find the time to develop my own knowledge and understanding of other exam boards and their marking and exam criteria. My approach to pedagogy is to use as many real-life examples as possible to ensure that your learning is relevant and that you are able to understand.
My lessons are based on your need and can be planned around what you require (as long as you let me know what that is); I won't ever cover something that you don't require and link all of my lessons to exam criteria at GCSE and A level. I am also able to give you advice on the marking and assessment of GCSE and A-level Geography - particularly for AQA - and we will spend time going through past exam papers to ensure that you are at the best possible standard for your exams.
My classroom will always be a friendly place, and with my expertise in SEN (I am a former SENCo) I am well placed to support students with a variety of educational needs.
