Hi I'm Sophie, I have a deep love of books, plays and art, which fuels my passion for the subjects I teach. I have tutored for many years alongside my acting career and I love it. I have helped hundreds of children to reach their desired grades or get a place at their target schools and universities.
I completed 4 A-levels at St Paul's Girls' school and after receiving a 2:1 in my English Literature MA at Edinburgh University, I spent 2 years at drama school in Paris. I continue to be a working actor alongside tutoring and am also a mum to 2 young children.
I have supported high potential learners to secure places and scholarships at schools such as St Paul's Girls' School, St Paul's Boys' School, Winchester, Westminster, Eton, Wycombe Abbey and others.
Likewise I have a track record of nurturing students with learning difficulties such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD and ASD. I also have a long history of supporting students for whom learning, school, or life in general has become a source of stress or anxiety.
My main subject is English at all levels, although I also tutor History of Art A-level, which I studied to degree level.
I have an inventive and energetic tutoring style and am interested in finding creative solutions to blocks or difficulties children may be having. I have an easy-going manner, a good sense of humour and an ability to interact with children in a non-patronising way. Having attended top schools myself, I understand the pressure felt by students to achieve results and am dedicated to helping the individual student find the best way to fulfil their academic potential and thrive.
