I have a passion for teaching all aspects of English and take pride in developing my students’ confidence in their academic abilities and truly enjoy the rewards of enabling them to succeed in their essays and exams.
As a teacher I bring enthusiasm, professionalism and dedication to my classes. When working with students my aim is to boost their confidence, and in turn their ability, through friendly, patient and creative tutoring.
I strongly believe that listening to my students’ needs and concerns is the most effective way of quickly and accurately identifying and addressing their specific areas of development. I always work collaboratively with my students, creating structured individual learning plans which include weekly and monthly targets and progress reviews.
I am a qualified secondary school English teacher, with over 15 years’ experience of teaching learners at a wide range of levels and abilities. I currently work in higher education, where I teach and support learners with all aspects of the academic writing and study process. This includes both undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations, essays, posters, presentations and exams.
I also professionally private tutor English Literature at A Level and undergraduate level.
I am an Examiner for Cambridge International Education, AS Level General English Paper.
I am a qualified dyslexia tutor and a professional member of the British Dyslexia Association. I am therefore able to utilise a range of non-traditional learning strategies and techniques which encourage creative approaches to learning, are tailored towards the individual strengths and talents of the learner and crucially, develop their levels of confidence and self-belief.
