About Me
I'm originally from the north of England and have always had a deep passion for the environment. This interest guided my academic journey through biology, geography, and ultimately environmental science. I earned my degree from Lancaster University and went on to work as an Environmental Consultant for three years, focusing on the investigation of pollutants.
Beyond academics, I’m a keen sports enthusiast—especially in running, triathlon, boxing, and weightlifting. Before pursuing my PGCE, I spent a year travelling through 20 countries across Asia, Oceania, and South America. I've also lived and worked extensively in Colombia, China, Vietnam, and Thailand. These experiences have shaped my worldview, and I see myself more as a global citizen than someone tied to one particular place.

My name is James, and I am a qualified Geography, Environmental Science and Humanities teacher with over 12 years of international teaching experience. Since earning my PGCE and QTS in the UK in 2013, I’ve worked in leading international schools across Colombia, China, Vietnam, and Thailand.
I have taught a wide range of curricula, including IBDP Geography and Environmental Systems and Societies (ESS), GCSE & IGCSE Geography and Global Perspectives, CAIE A-Level Geography, MYP Humanities, and Key Stage 3.
I specialise in helping students build exam confidence, master key skills, and develop a deeper understanding of global issues.
In addition to classroom teaching, I offer professional tutoring focused on tailored exam preparation. I’ve supported students from around the world in reaching their academic goals—whether it’s excelling in their coursework, improving exam technique, or aiming for top grades in external assessments.
My most recent role (2024–2025) was based in Hua Hin, Thailand, where I taught IBDP ESS, IGCSE Global Perspectives, and KS3 Geography. Previously, I taught IBDP Geography, IGCSE Geography and MYP Humanities in Hanoi, A-Level and IGCSE Geography in Shanghai as well as in Bogotá, Colombia.
My approach combines academic rigour with a student-centred philosophy. Lessons are inquiry-driven, engaging, and focused on critical thinking and independent learning. I also provide ongoing support between sessions, including feedback on homework and exam questions, as well as full mock exams on request.
