My passion is to develop in students a commitment to their own life long learning and develop the associated skills to achieve their aspirations.
In tutoring, my goal is to support students to achieve to the best of their ability by helping them understand their role in learning, supporting them to develop the necessary subject specific skill competencies as well as content understanding.
Recent students have achieved over 80% in their university entrance exams with just a few sessions including some focus on exam preparation as well as content. Another student with a commitment to her own success achieved a 7 in IB Business Management with one on one teaching over only one year, where I coached her to develop and apply her learning to achieve her desired results.
In the initial free meeting, I will help students to identify and plan their learning goals, then coach them to achieve those goals in future lessons. I also seek to engage with parents from the beginning to ensure students have as many levels of support for their learning as possible.
My earliest stint with teaching dates back more than a decade when I helped my mother take private tuition at home. Fast forward to 2017 when I was conducting workshops in my MBA school to help students prepare for their semester exams (in subjects such as Financial Markets, Corporate Finance, etc.). In order for me to be able to explain the subject matter, I need not just be well read. I need to be well spoken as well. I am a voracious reader and a passionate public speaker and have represented my school and college at the national level in different competitions. Brewing my interest in the incessant world of finance, I cleared my CFA Level 1 and 2 and FRM Level 1 exams in the very first attempt and am currently awaiting my FRM charter and preparing for my CFA Level 3 exams simultaneously. I have been a subject matter expert reviewer (Finance) for Study.com wherein I reviewed 2500 questions in a span of 6 months (of which 2499 reviews were correct). Of late, I have been a finance tutor on Chegg USA and have completed 200 odd lessons with a 100% success rate.

Here is a review from my recent summer 2019 student in Dublin, Daire Meehan
“I approached Edel when I realised I had failed both my Advanced Financial Reporting and Advanced Management Accounting modules. I called Edel on a Wednesday afternoon and we met that Saturday to plan out what we needed to cover. We arranged both online and in person meetings, the online was a great help and worked around my busy life. After 2 sessions online I was much more confident and was delighted I reached out to Edel. I always thought accounting was long and convoluted but Edel made things so easy and was able to relate the subjects to every day activities. I would highly recommend her as a tutor”
