I enjoy teaching and working with students from all backgrounds. My speciality focuses on climate security, where I study the relationship between climate change/environmental degradation and violent conflicts. Yet, I enjoy most topics that fall within the larger umbrella of international relations and security studies.
Besides my professional background, I am someone that likes moving around every few years. Originally from Turkey, I have had the opportunity to live in Canada and later in Europe, and in between, I was fortunate enough to be able to travel around the world. I like creating memories and experiencing new things :)
I worked as a university Tutor and Jr. Lecturer for four years in the Netherlands. I taught for a bachelor's program in security studies and covered a wide range of topics. One of the things I loved about being an instructor was that I had students from every corner of the world!
I started teaching classes in person; however, with the COVID19 pandemic, I moved onto teaching my lessons using online platforms, such as Zoom, Kaltura and MS Teams. Regardless of the set-up, my lessons always included various activities and practical tools for my students. I believe in having a student-centric approach when teaching because this allows students to have ownership over their own classes and motivates them to actively participate.
