Hi, I’m Justin—a former professional engineer turned dedicated private tutor, specialising in maths, physics, and engineering subjects at GCSE, A-Level, and university level.
With a BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering and several years of hands-on experience working on major infrastructure projects both in the UK and abroad, I bring real-world insight to academic learning. My professional background means I don’t just understand the theory—I’ve applied it in practice, and I use that perspective to make complex topics more tangible and relatable for my students.
I’m particularly passionate about helping learners build a strong conceptual foundation. Whether it's mastering the fundamentals of algebra, tackling challenging A-Level mechanics questions, or demystifying fluid dynamics at university level, my goal is always the same: to help students understand the why behind the equations so they can apply their knowledge with confidence.
My approach is structured and practical, with sessions tailored to the individual. I start by identifying where each student is struggling, then work methodically to fill those gaps—using clear explanations, worked examples, problem-solving strategies, and plenty of exam practice. I aim to help every student not just get the right answers, but truly understand the process that gets them there.
I genuinely enjoy helping others see the power and relevance of STEM subjects in everyday life and their future careers. If you're looking for a tutor who combines professional experience with a supportive, student-focused approach, I'd be happy to help.
Get in touch for a free initial consultation and to discuss how I can support you.
I am a specialist in engineering design, being a qualified engineer with several years of industry experience, and have a love and solid grasp of the maths and physics concepts required for design development. I have worked as a professional engineer both in the UK and internationally, working on the major projects and complex schemes.
During my career, I have tutored university students and recent graduates on the concepts behind the design work, helping them to understand the academic subjects better, as well as seeing clearly how the theoretical intertwines with the practical.
I recently began offering my tutoring services to younger students, with the aim of helping people face their GCSE and A-Level maths and physics exams with confidence.
I offer tailored tutoring with a ‘student-focused’ approach to learning. After assessing areas where students may be struggling the most, I work to ensure a firm grasp on the underlying fundamentals, meaning learners can feel comfortable when confronted with unfamiliar questions, no matter how they are presented.
I offer a free initial consultation so we can chat and see how I can help you, so please feel free to get in touch.

Very well calm and thorough explanations.
"Working with Justin over the summer was a breakthrough for me. He really helped bridge the gap between the theory and real-world application of geotechnical engineering. After the project, I had a much clearer understanding of what real design work looks and works like. His guidance gave me a confidence boost, and I walked away with a deeper appreciation for the field. That experience made a big difference when I started applying for jobs – I felt much more prepared and capable."
– Laura C. (Second-year Civil Engineering Student, ICE Summer Project)
"Justin helped me when I was struggling with calculus, simultaneous equations and statistics. I have ADHD and struggle to maintain focus. Justin was very patient and didn't give up on me like so many teachers in the past have. I definitely recommend him. Thank you so much Justin!"
- Jessica S. (A-Level maths student)
