I'm Charlotte: I love History and Law, and I hope you do, too! Since leaving University I've travelled over the world and lived in Japan and Hong Kong, where I taught and studied. I'm currently doing a mixture of tutoring and working with refugees to provide legal advice to them, and in my spare time I look after my pets (a cat and two lizards) and I play the cello and recorder.
I am a PGCE-trained History Graduate. I also have a law degree.
I started out in one-to-one teaching for students who were anxious or neurodiverse, and unable to attend school. I then moved into mainstream teaching, taking GCSE and A-Level or IB classes every year in both the AQA and OCR syllabus . During my law degree I tutored other students in study skills and essay-writing.
I specialise in project-based learning. For GCSE and A-Level students, this means working to your strengths and using long-form projects to find out how you best study, combined with rigorous curriculum study and exam practice so you are confident on exam day.
I cover OCR and AQA papers at GCSE. OCR B "The People's Health", "Tudors and Stuarts", and "Modern World History" are a particular strength, along with "Crime and Punishment".
In AQA I cover "Health and the people" and "Modern World History".
I am happy to provide exam skills for all topics.
At A-Level I have taught and tutored AQA "1C: The Tudors", "1D: Stuart Britain and the crisis of monarchy", "IF Industrialisation and the people", "2B The wars of the roses", "2O: Germany: Democracy and Nazism 1919 to 1945".
If you are studying a similar topic at A-Level with another exam board I am able to assess it prior to tutoring. If it is similar to other topics I have taught I may agree to tutor in it with at least two weeks' notice in order to prepare study materials.
I provide interview coaching for University applicants at all levels in History, Political science, and Law.
At undergraduate I provide exam and essay skills revision and coaching.
