About Me
Former secondary school teacher - I find science fascinating and with a background in research I love to discuss the subject in the broader context of the world outside the classroom.
Tutoring is a great fit for me as I am able to fit it around my family while still getting that teaching buzz, I also really enjoy the interaction with students and being a small part of their successes.
I have a wide ranging professional career and I think this also adds a richness to my tutoring style.
Beyond all that I love nature and being out in the garden tending to my ever expanding collection of plants - I'm a firm believer of the importance of taking time away from the screen to aid concentration and mental wellbeing.
Tutor Experience
I spent 4 years teaching at a number of inner London secondary schools. I have experience in all areas of the science curriculum including academic and applied science subjects. As a classroom teacher I achieved excellent exam results in both GCSE and A-Level subjects. My specialism is A-Level Chemistry and during my time as department lead I oversaw the implementation of the revised A-level specification.
Since leaving the classroom I have been tutoring in GCSE Science and A-Level Chemistry. I have encountered students from a variety of backgrounds and aspirations. Using my classroom experience, I am able to assess the needs of my students and tailor their lessons as required. I've always had very good feedback and work hard to ensure my students feel comfortable to ask questions.
