I am a second year geography teacher at a West London secondary school. I am part of the widely renowned Teach First cohort of 2020. I teach both KS3 and KS4 students, under the Edexcel spec A. My academic background is in political development, and thus naturally I am a specialist in human geography. However, after teaching the spec for 2 years, and after achieving an A-Level (Grade A) in Geography, I am beyond capable and experienced in the teaching of physical geography too.
I have a BA in Politics, and an MA in Political Development from a renowned London University (Royal Holloway).
My interests are in political, social, and economic development of countries, population concerns, urban growth, and climate change. That being said, I have avid interests in the wider geographic spectrum, including coastal erosion processes, river features, ecosystems etc.
I have taught in an Ofsted 'Outstanding' secondary school for two years. My teaching has been for both KS3 and KS4 classes, including exam years. I am in the second year of the lucrative 'Teach First' training programme, and am a first Year ECT teacher.
I teach on a one to one basis for intervention classes for students deemed to require GCSE intervention.
I have taught both in the classroom, and online during the school lockdowns during the Covid pandemic.
My pedagogies tend to be based on the students that I teach. I initially tend to focus on enquiry based learning, to ensure students think for themselves. However, for concepts that are typically more difficult to comprehend, I often use traditional transmission approaches to ensure that students understand complex concepts.
I am also capable to teach History at secondary school level, having achieved an A-Level in History, and having undertaken various history related courses at University, including the 'British in India'.
