I am a qualified teacher (UCL IoE PGCE 2015) as well as having a PhD in Holocaust Studies from the University of Southampton. I work as a freelancer and combine tutoring with a range of other projects, mostly (though not always) to do with Holocaust Education. I am fully DBS checked.
I have tutored students from GCSE to MA level, working on everything from straightforward understanding, knowledge and exam technique to mentoring and advising on complex academic research. I have also successfully tutored a student for the Oxford History Aptitude Test (HAT).
GCSE: History and Religious Studies
A-Level: History (especially 20th century topics); Politics (Yr 1 topics and USA)
Undergraduate and Postgraduate:
I am fundamentally a twentieth-century historian and ethnographer with a particular interest in Germany, Central Europe (especially Poland) and the Holocaust. However, for those in higher education, my research is interdisciplinary and I can offer help on any topic from the point of view of suggesting ways to research and make sense of findings. I also love learning new things and developing my knowledge: I have helped with dissertations on post-communist agricultural land-use, the Brexit vote in the UK, postwar art restitution and the decriminalisation of homosexuality in the UK armed forces. All of my students have achieved dissertation results that were better than expected.
A most helpful discussion about my initial ideas for my diss, thank you.
