I am friendly and outgoing and have worked in many research teams and with many different types of students of varying backgrounds and from different parts of the world, including West and Southern Africa, India and Hong Kong. I am very flexible and always aim to support students in the way that suits them best so that they can meet the required academic criteria. i have a clinical background in midwifery and am an Associate Editor for the Journal of Interprofessional Care.
I have been teaching research methods and supporting both undergraduates and postgraduates with research-based dissertations and academic writing since 2004. Much of this support has been conducted on-line over the last three years.
I have developed considerable expertise in helping students make sense of research terminology and principles; I always strive to make the subject accessible and I have always had good feedback from students, many of whom are required to pass research methods modules despite a lack of any particular interest in the subject itself.
My teaching is underpinned by 20 years' experience of conducting research, including: questionnaire construction and testing; a range of qualitative approaches - case study, discourse analysis, thematic enquiry; quantitative research involving the use of statistics at a basic level; mixed-methods research; and evaluation methods, including realist evaluation.
i have extensive experience of helping students construct coherent essays which demonstrate logical argument and critical thinking. A significant proportion of my on-line students have not been native English-speakers, and I have been able to help them hone and refine their writing.
