I have worked as a communications consultant, baker, schoolteacher, and milkman, and various teaching and management roles in further and higher education. My approach is purposeful and supportive, always beginning from where you are in your learning journey. Apart from work, I play lots of tennis, cook, play the alto saxophone, and probably watch too much TV.
I have taught for 30+ years at all levels from secondary school through to supervising doctoral students. I most enjoy one-to-one teaching, and am in my second year of private tutoring, both face to face and online. I understand that all learners are different, and I have supported students from many diverse backgrounds. Academic writing is a skill that can be taught and learnt, and I have a strong track record in helping students of all abilities to achieve their educational goals.
I have given advice on many extended essays, assignments and dissertations and I am an experienced examiner from Level 3 (A level and equivalent) through to Masters and Doctoral theses. I have assessed many university personal statements, and provided guidance on interview technique for university entrance and job applications. I have taught Masters and supervised doctoral students at the Universities of Worcester, Bristol, City U Hong Kong, Open University, and University of Sunderland. I was Chair of the Research Degrees Board at the University of Worcester for six years. I have written and published widely, including 'Your Guide to Successful Postgraduate Study' for Sage Books https://uk.sagepub.com/en-gb/eur/your-guide-to-successful-postgraduate-study/book257096 and ‘Ethics and Education’ for Ethics Press https://ethicspress.com/products/ethics-in-education-contemporary-perspectives-on-research-pedagogy-and-leadership .
Always knows how to help, has been super supportive probably would be lost without his help!
Fun, professional and very helpful. Made everything feel so much easier, at the same time as being kind. Win win.
