About Me

I'm a half British, half Uruguayan Senior Lecturer in Genetic Epidemiology at University of Liverpool's Department of Pharmacology & Therapeutics. I have published 40 peer reviewed scientific papers to date, which include original articles and invited expert reviews.

While my work is one of my passions, in my free time I don't work and I like to go hiking, eat pizza, do strength training, swimming, travel, get my nails done, spend time with friends and my lovely partner, and read books about psychopaths and serial killers.

Tutor Experience

I have taught both undergraduate and master's students at Birkbeck, Queen Mary's, UCL and University of Liverpool. This is in statistics, epidemiology, psychology and genetics. These were modules across both undergraduate and postgraduate courses and also included setting coursework and exam questions, as well as marking. I have also supervised many students for their dissertations and theses, which has led to this becoming one of my niche areas for private tuition.

I taught at UCL 2013-2024, while I taught at Birkbeck for 8 years until 2019. At QMUL I was a guest lecturer for genetic epidemiology and also led practical sessions which included coding in the command line and R. I am very experienced in these statistical packages: R/RStudio, Stata, SPSS, Jamovi. I am also advanced at coding in the command line (bash).

I have also tutored dozens of students in these subjects and have been with the Profs since early 2015. One of my main niche areas is now supporting students in their dissertations/theses. This includes setting the research question, hypothesis generation, planning and design, data analysis, correct referencing, as well as reviewing and providing feedback on drafts. This is also applicable to pieces of data analysis coursework, such as lab reports, which are common in psychology/neuroscience/epidemiology.

Recent tutoring stats:
