I didn't always want to be a teacher, but after graduating with a Masters (Biological Sciences) 8-years ago, I went straight back into the classroom as a teacher and have honestly never looked back.
I really believe that all students are scientists, some just might need a bit more help seeing how. I help with this through planning engaging and active lessons that integrate EdTech or practicals, and promote a love of learning along the way.
My teaching experience includes KS3, GCSE and International GCSE, A-level (CIE and OCR), BTEC Level 3 Applied Science, and IBDP Biology. I have also been tutoring for a number of years and know the value of personalised sessions to help increase student self-confidence and independence.
Outside of teaching I love to continue learning about the world around me (I recommend reading Entangled Life!) and exploring it through all means available to me - scuba diving, cycling, hiking, dragon boating, sailing...

During this time I have supported students at all key stages. I have developed an in-depth knowledge of exam board specifications and requirements, and have supported hundreds of students with exam technique and question analysis.
I have supervised Standard/Higher Level candidates with their Internal Assessments for IBDP - with 100% grading accuracy following moderation by the IB and students achieving the highest marks.
I have experience of developing teaching strategies to appeal to a huge variety of students with different preferred learning and revision styles. Recently I had to switch to developing full lessons and monitoring progress entirely online when schools were closed for nearly a full academic year during the pandemic. This allowed me to develop extensive knowledge of online resources and EdTech tools to make learning online engaging and effective.
